Red Bull doesn't want financial war in F1

Published Dec. 10, 2011 12:20 p.m. ET

Red Bull is committed to preventing a financial ''arms race'' in Formula One despite the reigning constructors' champion quitting the teams' association in a dispute over cost reductions.

Ferrari and Sauber also have withdrawn from the Formula One Teams Association within the last week after failing to agree on a resource restriction agreement.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says FOTA has become ''less effective and more fractured in the way we should move forward.''

Backing budget controls, chief technical officer Adrian Newey insists Red Bull doesn't ''want to get into an arms race like that which happened with the manufacturers a few years ago.''
