NASCAR: Richmond Qualifying - Denny Hamlin On The Pole

Qualifying for the all-important pole position as well as track position is complete from Richmond International Raceway. Denny Hamlin is on the pole.
The drama of the all-important Chase-clinching weekend was already evident during Friday afternoon’s qualifying session for Sprint Cup Drivers. Richmond’s challenging oval tasked even the best drivers. Turns one and two are very tight and cars can become even tighter while turn three tempts one to over-drive the entry and perhaps spoil the lap. Finally, off of turn four is a wide radius exit which dares drivers to put the power down too early and get loose.
In the end, Denny Hamlin continued the mastery of one of his home state tracks, and has earned the pole position for the regular-season finale.
