NASCAR penalizes JR Motorsports truck team for winning Kahne truck

NASCAR announced Tuesday that JR Motorsports' No. 00 Camping World Truck Series team has been hit with a P2 penalty after driver Kasey Kahne's Chevrolet failed post-race inspection after winning Friday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
NASCAR ruled that the truck -- which was discovered in post-race inspection to be too low on both sides and too high in the right rear -- did not meet the minimum post-race splitter height.
As a result of the violation, crew chief Joe Shear Jr. has been fined $6,000 and placed on NASCAR probation through Dec. 31. Additionally, team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been docked 10 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship owner points.
Kahne, a full-time Sprint Cup driver for Hendrick Motorsports, was making a cameo appearance in the JRM Chevy -- a part-time entry being driven in 10 races this season by 17-year-old Cole Custer.
