And the 2017 Monster Energy Cup Series Champion is… That could be the way in which things are headed in the world of NASCAR as it has been confirmed that Monster Energy is one of the finalists in the search to replace Sprint as a title sponsor next season.

When it comes to NASCAR replacing Sprint as a title sponsor there isn’t much that is known as of right now. NASCAR was originally optimistic that they would have an announcement this summer and then they thought they would have something before November and now there is no word on when an announcement will come.

While the timetable is a mystery, there does finally seem to be some names creeping to the forefront. A recent article on Motorsport.com has named Monster Energy as one of the finalists in the search for a title sponsor. Monster is already in NASCAR as they sponsor Kurt Busch and the No. 41 machine, the article addressed that and more.

While other companies remain in contention, Monster is in an advanced stage of negotiations with NASCAR to replace Sprint, multiple sources confirmed.

Monster has served as a the primary sponsor on driver Kurt Busch’s No. 41 Cup car at Stewart-Haas Racing since 2015 and it served as a sponsor for his younger brother, Kyle Busch, in NASCAR’s Xfinity Series prior to its move to the Cup series.

Should Monster emerge as the new Cup sponsor, its decision is not expected to have an immediate impact on Busch’s No. 41 sponsorship, sources confirmed to Motorsport.com.

Monster makes even for sense for NASCAR given the fact that it is owned by Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola does a lot of work within the world of NASCAR over the last 50 years from sponsoring events to having the Coca-Cola racing family and more. Given that already established and successful relationship, a partnership with Monster seems to make sense.

Again, there is no timetable for an announcement from NASCAR but one has to assume that it will come before the end of the calendar year.
