Montoya gets new Cup crew chief

Juan Pablo Montoya will have a new crew chief when he shows up at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the next Sprint Cup Series race.

Jim Pohlman replaces Brian Pattie on top of the No. 42 pit box Effective immediately. Pohlman, has been with the organization since 2006 in numerous roles, was named interim crew chief.

“We are pleased to have someone of Jim’s caliber to be able to place into this role on the No. 42 team. Jim has been with us a number of years and I have confidence in his abilities to move the team forward,” said team owner Chip Ganassi.

Through 19 races this season, Montoya has two top-five and six top-10 finishes and is ranked 17th in points, 59 points out of the 10th position which would guarantee him a spot in the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
