Loeb wins Catalunya Rally, takes 8-point lead

Defending champion Sebastien Loeb protected his overnight lead to win his seventh straight Catalunya Rally on Sunday and take an eight-point lead over Mikko Hirvonen into the final race of the season.

The 37-year-old Citroen driver was the fastest through the day's six stages to finish the race over two minutes ahead of Hirvonen.

Loeb can claim his eighth consecutive world rally title at the decisive Wales Rally on Nov. 10-13.
