Kyle Busch forced to backup car, will start Coca-Cola 600 from rear

In the opening moments of Saturday's final practice session for the Coca-Cola 600, Kyle Busch posted the fastest lap of the session, but then hit the outside wall exiting Turn 4 shortly thereafter. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver lost the rear of the car and slapped the outside wall, forcing the team to pull out the backup car.

As a result, Busch will give up his seventh-place starting spot and drop to the rear of the field for the start of the Coca-Cola 600.

Busch initially told the team over the radio, "Fix it. I'll see you tomorrow," but the team pulled out the backup car within 30 minutes and got its driver back on track before the session ended.

However, the backup car was not as strong as the primary, as it could only muster the 40th-fastest time of the session.
