Renault says Formula One driver Robert Kubica has signed a contract extension, committing him to the team until 2012.

The 25-year-old Pole is sixth in the 2010 championship standings after nine races of his first season with Renault.

Team principal Eric Boullier said Wednesday that ``there have been many rumors surrounding his future in recent weeks, which were a tribute to how well he has driven this year, and we are very happy to have agreed a multiyear deal.''

Kubica joined Renault to replace Fernando Alonso after the end of last season after having driven for BMW Sauber since 2006.
