Keselowski will skip Nationwide race

Brad Keselowski won't run in Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide race in Iowa after a head-on crash into a wall at Road Atlanta on Wednesday.

In making the announcement Thursday, Penske Racing said that Parker Kligerman will drive the No. 22 Dodge in Friday's practice sessions, but Sam Hornish, Jr., will run both qualifying and the race.

There was no immediate word about Keselowski's status for Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Pocono, but the driver indicated Wednesday he would compete.

Keselowski, who won the inaugural Nationwide race at Iowa Speedway in 2009, crashed during a testing run in Atlanta. He walked from the car and was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. Penske said it will evaluate Keselowski's condition and provide information when it becomes known.

As FOXSports.com reported Wednesday, Keselowski sent messages via his Twitter account from the hospital.

"Looking at data with engineers in hospital bed. Was going 155, car slowed to approx 100 before hitting a non safer barrier wall head on," Keselowski wrote. "Looks like I'll be ok to race this weekend. Blue deuce, not so much. I'll keep u posted."

The 27-year-old driver also sent out pictures of his ankle from the hospital via Twitter.

After the accident “Brad was able to exit the car under his own power," said Jonathan Gibson, vice president of Penske Racing.
