Hamilton's career gains new power

Published Mar. 14, 2011 8:20 a.m. ET

Lewis Hamilton has ended his yearlong search for a manager by signing up with the entertainment executive who oversees David Beckham's career ahead of the new Formula One season.

XIX Entertainment's Simon Fuller replaces Hamilton's father Anthony, who stopped being the 2008 world champion's manager ahead of a lackluster 2010 season.

Hamilton says ''it was important I took my time to make this decision as it had to be right for my career and my long-term future.''

The British McLaren driver says Fuller and his team ''not only wanted to help me become an even better racing driver, but they also shared my ambitions for the longer term.''
