Final practice results: Biffle, Stewart and Almirola lead the way


Greg Biffle hasn't had a whole lot to be happy about this season.
But on Friday at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway, the Roush Fenway Racing driver was the fastest of them all in his No. 16 Ford in the final practice for Sunday's Geico 500 at track. His best lap around the superspeedway was 48.281 seconds, averaging out to 197.929 miles per hour.
Biffle, who comes into the race 21st in the points standings, has only one top-10 finish this season. It came in the very first race, the Daytona 500, when he finished 10th.
Biffle was followed on the Happy Hour speed chart by another driver who has struggled even more than he has this season in Tony Stewart, whose fastest lap was timed in 48.438 seconds, or 197.859 mph. Stewart, who is 29th in points, also has only one top-10 finish this season.
Biffle and Stewart was followed on the speed chart by Aric Almirola, who turned his fastest lap in 48.438 seconds (197.696 mph). Jimmie Johnson (197.175 mph) and Austin Dillon (197.122 mph) rounded out the top five.
