Fans will have more tailgating space

Texas Motor Speedway has announced plans for Pit Stop Park, the latest fan amenity at the track.

Pit Stop Park will encompass a tract of parking area larger than the size of an NFL football field – 146 yards in length by 53 yards wide – for tailgating. Less than 100 yards from the speedway’s main entrance gate, the tailgate community will consist of as many as 76 reserved spots and a landscaped common area. It is scheduled to be completed in March and open for the April race weekend.

Each spot is 36 feet deep by 15 feet wide – nearly the size of four traditional parking spots – to allow fans room for personal vehicle (no RVs or campers) and a tent with room for tables, chairs and a barbeque grill. Half of each spot will be natural grass.

Amenities in the area include a common area with picnic tables, horseshoe pits and bean-bag toss areas, security staffing, catering options through Levy Restaurants and daily bagged trash pickup.
