Edwards mum on contract talks with Roush Fenway Racing

KANSAS CITY, KAN. -- In 2011, the last time Carl Edwards' contract was up, he nearly wound up at Joe Gibbs Racing and his ongoing negotiations to remain at Roush Fenway Racing made headlines that dragged on for months.
This year, Edwards is in another contract year, but he's handling things very differently. Having learned his lesson three years ago, Edwards isn't talking about where things stand with his negotiations.
"You guys know that I don't like to talk about that stuff in the media," Edwards said Friday. "To me, that is business and I have made the mistake of letting that turn into a big media thing before, so I would rather not talk about that and keep that between me and Jack (Roush, team co-owner) and Steve Newmark (RFR president)."
A reporter then asked Edwards if some teams were more enticing than others.
"Part of me not talking about it would be not answering that question," Edwards said.
Along with Edwards, his teammate Greg Biffle is in a contract year. On a couple of prior occasions this year, Biffle said his intentions are to remain with RFR.
Heading into Saturday night's 5-Hour Energy 400 at Kansas Speedway, Edwards is fifth in points, while Biffle is eighth.
