
Denny Hamlin fastest in first Saturday Cup practice at Dover
Denny Hamlin, who earlier won the pole for Sunday's FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks Sprint Cup race at Dover International Speedway, also was fastest in Saturday's first of two practices at the track.
Hamlin turned his fastest lap in 23.028 seconds, ot 156.331 miles per hour, at the 1-mile concrete track, otherwise known as "The Monster Mile."
Hamlin was followed at the top of the speed chart by Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Carl Edwards, who turned his top lap in 23.029 seconds at 156.325 mph, and Kurt Busch of Stewart-Haas Racing (23.116 seconds, 155.736 mph).
Rounding out the top 10 were nine-time Dover winner Jimmie Johnson, David Ragan, Kyle Larson, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Matt Kenseth.
