Del Worsham leads Top Fuel qualifying

Del Worsham raced to the qualifying lead in Top Fuel on Friday at the NHRA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex.

Worsham, who led the points standings for most of the season before falling to No.. 3, powered his dragster to a 3.869 second run at 318.54 mph to lead the 16-car field. He also has two Funny Car victories at the famed all-concrete track.

Qualifying continues Saturday with two sessions.

Cruz Pedregon (Funny Car), Jason Line (Pro Stock) and Andrew Hines (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also were qualifying leaders at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series event.

Pedregon, a two-time world champion, posted a 4.086 at 307.86 in a Toyota Solara to take the lead in Funny Car.

Line set both ends of the track record in Pro Stock with a run of 6.553 at 211.20 in his Pontiac GXP.
