Carl Edwards fastest in first practice session for Coca-Cola 600

Carl Edwards was fastest in Thursday's opening practice for this Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Edwards topped the speed chart with a fast lap of 192.273 miles per hour in his No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, completing the 1.-5-mile CMS circuit in a swift 28.085 seconds.

Edwards was followed in the practice by Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick and David Ragan. Here are the complete results from the session:
