Those drivers hoping to race their way into Saturday's NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race will first have to make their way through Friday night's Sprint Showdown.
The 29-car field hit the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway on Friday afternoon for their lone, one-hour, 40-minute practice session.
Richard Childress Racing's Austin Dillon was fastest in the No. 3 Chevrolet with a lap of 28.528 seconds at 189.288 miles per hour. Dillon also had the best 10 consecutive-lap average.
Roush Fenway Racing's Greg Biffle was second fastest in the session, followed by Martin Truex Jr., Paul Menard and Danica Patrick.
Clint Bowyer ran the most laps of the session, 47, and was seventh fastest.
Friday night's Sprint Showdown will consist of two 20-lap segments, with the winners of each segment transferring into Saturday night's Sprint Showdown. The Sprint Fan Vote will also transfer into Saturday's main event.
