Tigers' Coke on 15-day DL with bruised right ankle

Published May. 24, 2011 3:28 p.m. ET

The Detroit Tigers have put pitcher Phil Coke on the 15-day disabled list.

Coke bruised his right ankle Monday night trying to field a bunt in Detroit's 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The left-hander was pitching well for a third straight start when he was injured. He is 1-5 with a 3.81 ERA this season.

Left-handed pitcher Adam Wilk has taken Coke's spot on the roster. Wilk was 3-4 with a 3.86 ERA in eight starts for Triple-A Toledo this year.

The Tigers plan to call up left-hander Andy Oliver on Saturday to take Coke's spot in the rotation against the Boston Red Sox.
