The Atlanta Braves are well aware of how integral Freddie Freeman is to their success, and they're doing everything they can to expedite his return to the team.

As he rests a bone bruise in his right wrist, Freeman has received a platelet-rich plasma injection on his injured wrist to try to speed up the recovery process, according to a report by MLB.com on Thursday.

Platelet-rich plasma injections are now being more commonly used by doctors to promote healing of injuries.

The process involves drawing a portion of the patient's blood and separating the platelets with the use of a centrifuge, which concentrates the platelets in the plasma. The platelet-rich plasma is then injected into the site of injury to aid the healing process.

The Braves are hoping that this remedy will help Freeman and his run production return to the team as soon as possible.

The 25-year-old power-hitting first baseman has 12 home runs and 41 RBI in 66 games this season.
