Rays' Brignac goes on bereavement list

Tampa Bay shortstop Reid Brignac was placed on the bereavement list Sunday and infielder Felipe Lopez was called up from Triple-A Durham to take his place on the roster against the Marlins.

Brignac's grandfather died Saturday in St. Amant, La. Brignac is expected to rejoin the team in time for Friday's home game against Cleveland.

Brignac has started 32 games this season and is batting .170 with no home runs and six RBIs.

Lopez was with the Rays for 24 games earlier this season. He's batting .222 with two home runs and six RBIs. He started 18 games at third base and two as the designated hitter.
