Pirates catcher Stewart has successful knee surgery

MILWAUKEE (AP) Pittsburgh Pirates catcher Chris Stewart had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Tuesday and is expected to be out six-to-eight weeks.

Dr. James Andrews operated on Stewart in Florida. The 34-year-old catcher had been on the disabled list since September 13 with left knee discomfort. He was batting .214 in 34 games.
