Nationals' Wilson Ramos's father finally sees him play, witnesses no-hitter

Wilson Ramos's father may have only just watched his son play professional baseball for the first time, but he certainly picked a right time to do it.

Throughout his son's six years playing in MLB, predominantly spent with the Washington Nationals, Ramos's father, Abraham, who lives in Venezuela, had never been to the U.S., nonetheless to one of his son's games, until earlier this month.

"He's so happy to be here," Ramos said. "Every time we talk, go out, hang out, he's so happy to be here. He's so happy to see me play. It makes me happy. He's my dad. It fills me with emotion."

Abraham picked an action-packed month to come watch Ramos and the Nats, and was in attendance on Saturday as ace Max Scherzer threw a no-hitter that is high on the list of the best pitching performances in franchise history.

While the historical performance is something Ramos's father will cherish, he's just glad to finally watch his son play after all this time—and so is Ramos.

"Thank God I've been healthy and he's been able to see me play," the 27-year-old catcher said.
