Max Scherzer announces retirement of baseball's sweetest celebration
The Washington Nationals and pitcher Max Scherzer appear to have soured on the sweet taste of chocolate when it comes to post-game celebrations. In an interview with SiriusXM MLB Network Radio last Friday, Scherzer announced that the team will no longer douse players in chocolate syrup to celebrate a big win.

"That was last year,” Scherzer said. “That was just a one-year thing. It was kind of a spur of the moment how it even came about. We’ll look for a new way try to have some more fun this year, in ’16."
Since Scherzer apparently thinks chocolate syrup is so "last year", he will need to start brainstorming celebration ideas for the coming season. But teammate Bryce Harper told radio hosts Jim Duquette and Jim Bowden that the decision on how to celebrate thrilling victories still falls on the pitcher because the chocolate syrup worked out so well last season.
Perhaps Scherzer should get in touch with Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris Sale, who revealed his interesting diet plan recently. In a bid to pack on some pounds, Sale has reportedly been indulging in staples such as pizza, cheeseburgers and tacos. If the Nationals choose to continue with the celebratory food theme, the pizza could be a good candidate. Imagine how great it would be to see a player get a pizza to the face right after a walk-off win.
