Brewers' Jungmann evolving as a pitcher
As Taylor Jungmann continues to gain experience as a pitcher, he also continues to evolve and improve.
The rookie has already shown an impressive ability to work his way out of jams and Brewers manager Craig Counsell has been impressed with the right-handers composure.
“When you get in those situations, that’s all you can do -- take it one pitch at a time and try to get one out at a time,” Jungmann told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. “You can’t worry about the big picture. When you do that, you’re thinking ahead, and that’s when you get in big trouble. That’s when big innings happen. To minimize the damage in situations like that is always the key.”
Although Jungmann is a rookie, this isn't the first time he's pitched in front of big crowds and he believes it is his past experiences that have helped him so far.
“Playing at a Texas, you were playing in front of 10,000 people every night,” Jungmann said. “The College World Series was pretty big. Pitching in games like that, I’m able to bear down and compete and things like that. At Texas, every game is huge.”
