When projecting Swoopes' potential, it's really anybody's guess

What is Tyrone Swoopes' potential?
There might not be a quarterback in the country whose potential is more of a mystery. After last season's ups and downs, Swoopes isn't even guaranteed of being the Texas Longhorns' starting quarterback when the 2015 season starts on Sept. 5 at Notre Dame.
That honor might fall to redshirt freshman Jerrod Heard, but that's certainly not a guarantee at this point. So what if Swoopes returns as the starter? Should Longhorns fans expect a much-improved quarterback or has the 6-foot-4, 248-pound junior reached his ceiing?
Bleacher Report College Football Analyst Adam Kramer offers his view of Swoopes and his potential in 2015 in this video.
It would seem unlikely that Swoopes has reached his ceiling. It's just no one really knows where his ceiling is at this point. Or if whatever it is will be good enough.
Swoopes wasn't expected to start in 2014. The job belonged to David Ash, but he was forced to retire after experiencing more concussion symptoms after the season-opener.
Swoopes had his moments, showing some promising signs against Oklahoma and looking good in a big win over West Virginia, but his final two outings against TCU's stellar defense and against Arkansas in the bowl game were hard-to-digest episodes of total ineptness.
Of course, Texas' offensive line was a mess last season after being decimated by suspensions and injuries. At the least, an improved offensive line should help Swoopes be a better quarterback.
And there's really only one way for Swoopes to go, it's just a matter of how much improvement can realistically be expected. Swoopes was the only quarterback in the Big 12 last season to average fewer than 200 yards passing a game, and he didn't make up for it with his legs either, finishing 10th in total offense at just more than 220 yards a game.
So when you talk about Swoopes' potential in 2015, it's really anybody's guess.
