Five Items That Should Be on Every Badger Fans Holiday Wishlist

Its the most wonderful time of the year! The holidays are just around the corner, and preparation is at an all time high. People everywhere are putting up the decorations, putting on the holiday music, and watching the many Christmas Classics on tv. Everyone is preparing their wish list as to what they want for the Holidays. Kids want the perfect toy, while many adults just want to spend quality time with their families. Each individual person wants something different for the Holidays, which is what makes it a truly special time of year. The same can be applied to sports fan bases. Each fan wants something special to happen this time of year, you have hopes and wishes for your team that would make you happy this holiday season. What do Badger fans have on their list? Incase you are having trouble deciding what you want, here is a list of what each and every Badger fan should be wishing for as the Holidays quickly approach.

#1 A Cotton Bowl Victory

The top thing on every Badger fans list should be a Cotton Bowl Victory on January 2nd. While you’ll have to wait a little after Christmas to get this gift, it certainly would make the Holiday season a good one. Coming into the season not many people thought the Badgers would be in a New Year Six Bowl, so you have to be happy that they’ve made it to this point. However, it would be pretty special to end it on a high note after suffering a pretty brutal Big Ten Championship loss. Going into the 2017 season with a Cotton Bowl victory would be pretty special as the Badgers have struggled in these games in the past decade. To follow up a 10-3 Holiday Bowl Champion season with a 11-3 Cotton Bowl Championship would be a really big step toward 2017.

#2 A Return of Ryan Ramczyk

A very underrated wish would be the Badgers getting offensive lineman Ryan Ramczyk back for his Senior season. The Junior Left Tackle has had an incredible story for those who have followed, and it would be great to get Ramczyk back for one more season. Ramczyk was a Divsion III tackle for Stony Brook before transferring to Wisconsin. Now after a 2016 campaign in which Ramczyk did not allow a sack all seasosn, he sits toward the top of a lot of NFL draft board. Ramczyk is the #20 ranked prospect on the Big Board for CBS. A Ramczyk return would give a lot of experience to the offensive line going into 2017, and allow big holes to open for running back Bradrick Shaw next season, or providing protection for our next possible gift?

#3 A Malik Zaire Transfer

Another big get for Wisconsin Fans would be the services of former Notre Dame Quarterback Malik Zaire. Zaire was the Notre Dame starter in their 2015 season, but broke an ankle and eventually lost out on the starting job and was unable to retain his spot again. Zaire is still a highly touted talent, and applied for a Graduate Transfer out of Notre Dame which he was granted with no restrictions. Zaire put together a list of schools interested, and Wisconsin was one of his top schools. Talks intensified between him and Chryst over the past weekend, and Zaire visited campus on Wednesday afternoon. A Zaire transfer would give the Badgers a special talent at the quarterback position going into the 2017 season.

#4 Retaining Defensive Coordinator Justin Wilcox

The coaching carousel is in full swing, and various names are being throw around for various positions around the country. While we wont don’t have to worry about our Head Coach jumping ship, there is a bit of worry about keeping other coaches in place, specifically Defensive Coordinator Justin Wilcox. Wilcox’s name was in contention for the San Jose State Head Coaching job was not offered the position. Despite that, we’ve seen coordinators leave Wisconsin before, and the Badgers do not want to lose Wilcox after the season he had this year. The roster that the Badgers return in 2017 is loaded, so keeping all the pieces in place would be huge for Wisconsin going forward.

#5 Hoops to Keep Rolling

While much of the attention is on the football team, the Wisconsin Basketball team is starting to roll heading toward conference play. The Badgers had a slow start to the 2016 season as the dropped two tough games early in the season, and the stars of the team had not been playing their best ball lately. They’ve won four in a row, and the stars like Hayes and Happ are playing their best ball since their impressive run last season. Happ put up 24 points in their win over Syracuse, while Hayes put up 28 in their win over Oklahoma. The team is finally gelling together and playing quality basketball against tough competition. The Badgers next test comes from in state 7-2 Marquette. For Badger fans, a big wish will be for the team to keep this up all the way into late March.
