WATCH: Penn State skirts disaster on crazy trick play TD pass
Penn State football had a hard time getting its passing game going Saturday at Northwestern.
Then a Nittany Lions receiver picked up a bouncing ball and chucked it downfield to another PSU receiver who had beaten man coverage for an improbable touchdown.
No, really. Watch.
That was Geno Lewis grabbing a botched handoff and going with it before finding DaeSean Hamilton down the field for the score that made it 20-14 in favor of Northwestern with about five minutes left in the third quarter.
The Nittany Lions eventually took the lead on a Saquon Barkley touchdown run, but Northwestern won the game 23-21 on a 35-yard field goal by Jack Mitchell with less than a minute left.
Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg threw for 205 yards while completing 21-of-40 passes with an interception, his first pick thrown in six games.
