WATCH: Josh Adams runs into the record book for Notre Dame

Published Nov. 14, 2015 4:56 p.m. ET

Notre Dame football was without leading rusher C.J. Prosise on Saturday as the Fighting Irish took on Wake Forest.

So how did that go?

Pretty well.

Josh Adams, a true freshman making his first start, ripped off not only the longest in Notre Dame history but also the longest play from scrimmage.

Per ND sports information, the previous record was a 96-yard passing touchdown from Blair Kiel to Joe Howard in 1981.

Adams finished with 141 yards on 17 carries as the Fighting Irish won 28-7.
