Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:03 p.m. ET

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Utah indefinitely suspended senior receiver Cory Butler-Byrd on the first day of fall camp Thursday.

Coach Kyle Whittingham says Butler-Byrd is dealing with personal issues but did not offer further details.

Butler-Byrd, who transferred to Utah from Los Angeles Harbor College last year, remains on scholarship but will not participate in team activities while he's suspended.

Initially a cornerback, Butler-Byrd was projected to be a starter at receiver this season.
