Urban Meyer: In 2009 at UF, I was depressed and 'thought I was dying'

Everything unraveled for Urban Meyer in 2009.

Then the coach at Florida, Meyer drove himself so hard physically and mentally the he lost 37 pounds -- dropping from 217 to 180 -- and found himself falling into a depressed state.

"I thought I was dying," Meyer said. "I was mentally broke."

He became addicted to winning and started consuming two Ambien and a beer just to sleep.

This was all while Florida went 13-0 and earned a trip to the SEC championship game.

After the Gators lost to Alabama and failed to defend their national title, Meyer found himself on the floor of his bathroom at 4 a.m. passed out from chest pains.

Meyer, now the head coach at Ohio State, details all of this on an upcoming episode of HBO's Real Sports. Here's a brief clip of Meyer's appearance, which will air next week:
