Top of AP poll remains the same, Penn State makes a big leap

Published Jun. 30, 2017 6:28 p.m. ET

After another week without too many major upsets, the first six spots on the AP Top 25 remained the same.

Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Washington, Louisville and Ohio State still hold the first few spots in the rankings. Texas A&M, which lost to Mississippi State, fell from No. 7 to No. 10.

The big winner this week was Penn State, which jumped from No. 20 to No. 12 after beating Iowa 41–14 for its fifth consecutive win.

Western Michigan continued its slow ascent up the poll, going from No. 17 to No. 14 after a blowout win over Ball State on Tuesday.

Nebraska, Florida and Baylor were each handed their second losses of the season and tumbled to the bottom of the Top 25.
