Texas Football: Shane Buechele a Rising Star at NFL Level

Shane Buechele has a bright future with Texas football. He has earned a number of accolades already in just three games. Now, he’s starting to turn some heads in the NFL.
NFL.com media analyst Daniel Jeremiah conducted a poll of five NFL personnel executives where he asked: Who is the most underrated college quarterback in the country? Each person gave a different answer, including one QB Texas will see (Patrick Mahomes) and one they’ve seen more than enough of already (Davis Webb). The most interesting name for Longhorn fans, however, was Shane Buechele.
According to the anonymous executive, Buechele is “legit” despite being just a freshman. He praised the true freshman’s “poise, deep-ball touch and overall feel for the game,” while also commending him on the way he “carries himself.”
Jeremiah seconds the executive’s high praise of Buechele after watching the freshman in his debut against Notre Dame. He echoed many of the same positives the executive laid out and added that he believes Buechele “has a bright future.”
It’s easy to see why everyone loves what they see from Buechele. He has already won Big 12 Newcomer of the Week twice. He ranks No. 28 in the nation and No. 4 in the Big 12 in passer rating. His seven touchdowns this season are just two off what Texas managed through the air in all of 2015.
It’s exciting to see a QB at Texas that invigorates the fan base AND the NFL. Colt McCoy was the last Longhorns QB to get noticed by the NFL. He went in the third round by Cleveland way back in 2010. Will Buechele break the dry spell when he’s eligible in 2019?
Buechele made an immediate impression on Texas fans with his ability to throw the deep ball, his poise in the pocket, and his toughness. Now, Longhorn fans aren’t the only one to notice. Shane Buechele is a star on the rise and Texas football is going along for the ride.
