Could the annual Texas, Texas A&M football game finally be making a return to the schedule? With Texas giving the boot to athletic director Steve Patterson recently, fans are looking for any ray of hope in bringing back one of college football's best rivalries.
However Texas A&M regent Tony Buzbee probably isn't helping with his latest comments, via The Dallas Morning News:
"I am going to advocate that the Aggies play Texas again in the near future. Because of our brutal SEC West schedule, where we play the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU, etc., the Aggies need some cupcake games to rest and heal. In my view, Texas is just as weak if not weaker than the non-conference games we play, so we may as well play them."

Ouch.
If you are unfamiliar with the opponents on Texas A&M's non-conference schedule this season, here are the teams Buzbee was referring to: Arizona State, Ball State, Nevada and Western Carolina.
The Texas schools have not met on the field since 2011 and the prospects of their next matchup happening anytime soon are slim.
