Tennessee State rallies to beat Jackson State 40-26

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Two touchdowns eight seconds apart lifted Tennessee State to a 40-26 come-from-behind win over Jackson State in the Southern Heritage Classic on Saturday night.

Sophomore O'Shay Ackerman-Carter went 14 for 18 for 227 yards and found Patrick Smith with a pass from the 3-yard line that knotted the score at 26 with 4:23 left in the third quarter. One snap later, Ezra Robinson picked off Jackson State's LaMontiez Ivy from the 25 and ran in for the go-ahead score with 4:15 left in the third.

Tennessee State (2-0) added an insurance score when Ackerman-Carter picked up his first career rushing TD, from the 1, with 14:12 left in the game. With 21 carries for 109 yards, junior Erick Evans gained more than 100 yards rushing for the second time in his career.

Ivy fired 40 passes, completing 19 for 167 yards and a 30-yard TD to Daniel Williams that gave the Tigers a 13-0 lead.
