Tabary leads McNeese State to 33-3 win over Tarleton State

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) James Tabary threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns as McNeese State spotted Tarleton State, a Division II school, three points and then rolled to a 33-3 win on Saturday.

Kent Shelby grabbed five passes for 71 yards and Darious Crawley pulled in three for 58 yards and two touchdowns. The three Cowboy quarterbacks threw to 14 different receivers for a total of 358 yards.

The Cowboys, who gave first-year coach Lance Guidry a win to start his tenure, were thwarted in the first quarter. Trent Manuel kicked a 22-yard field goal with 12:36 left in the second period for McNeese State's first score. Dylan Long ran in from the 1 with 10:07 remaining in the second and the Cowboys rolled to a 20-3 halftime advantage.

McNeese State, celebrating Military Appreciation Night, totaled 568 yards while limiting Tarleton to just 134. The Texans managed only six first downs while allowing McNeese State 32.
