Sacred Heart survives turnovers to beat Cornell 31-24

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) Nate Chavious ran for two touchdowns and RJ Noel, despite being picked off four times, threw for two more and Sacred Heart held off Cornell 31-24 on Saturday.

Chavious carried 24 times for 160 yards with consecutive TD runs of 22 and 13 yards in the first quarter. Noel threw long scoring strikes to Ose Imeokparia (58 yards) and Andrew O'Neill (39). The latter gave the Pioneers (5-1) a 31-10 lead.

Cornell (3-2) scored twice in the final 17 minutes on touchdown runs from J.D. PicKell and Dalton Banks. Banks passed for 117 yards and ran for 87 more. PicKell rushed for 95 yards on 22 carries.

Sacred Heart, rebounding from its first loss, turned the ball over five times but racked up 471 yards total offense to Cornell's 374. The Pioneers defense held as Tim Johnson intercepted Banks with 48 seconds remaining to seal the win.
