Report: Maryland WR Diggs injures kidney, could be out until bowl game

Maryland could be without the services of star WR Stefon Diggs for the remaining three games of the regular season as he suffered a lacerated kidney in team's Nov. 1 game at Penn State, according to a report in The Baltimore Sun.

Diggs, who leads the Terrapins with 52 receptions, 654 yards and 5 touchdowns, sustained the injury early in the fourth quarter of the team's win in State College while taking a shot to the kidney in trying to reach the end zone, multiple sources told the newspaper. Though Diggs was on the ground for an extended period of time after taking a shot to the kidney area while diving to reach the end zone, Diggs was able to return to the game.

Diggs was already slated to miss Maryland's game Saturday against Michigan State because of his one-game suspension for a pregame skirmish with the Nittany Lions. But Maryland has two remaining regular season games beyond that (at Michigan on Nov. 22 and at home vs. Rutgers on Nov. 29) before playing in a bowl game. The Terrapins (6-3, 2-2 Big Ten) became bowl eligible with its win over PSU.
