Report: Georgia starting third-stringer Bauta at QB vs. Florida

Georgia is reportedly making a switch at quarterback heading into the Florida game.

Surprisingly, the Bulldogs won't be turning to backup quarterback Brice Ramsey, but instead will be jumping all the way down to third-string quarterback Faton Bauta, according toĀ Gridiron NowĀ and ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

The move had been suspected leading up to the Florida game.Ā

Bauta has yet to attempt a pass for the Bulldogs this season and has attempted only five passes in his three-year career in Athens.Ā

The Bulldogs' offense has stalled significantly behind junior quarterback Greyson Lambert in recent weeks, averaging fewer than 17 points per game over the past three contests. Prior to that stretch, Georgia opened the season averaging more than 45 points per game in the first four games of the season.

Incumbent starting quarterback Greyson Lambert set the NCAA completion record by completing 96 percent -- 24 of 25 -- of his passes against South Carolina Sept. 19, but now finds himself on the bench in Georgia's most important game of the season.
