Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers Preview
Penn State comes back to Beaver Stadium this week to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Last week brought a blowout loss in Ann Arbor for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Although many expected the result, it could still be tough to bounce back from. Up next is another tough conference battle. The undefeated Minnesota Golden Gophers make their first trip to Happy Valley since 2009.
The 2009 meeting ending in a shutout win for the Nittany Lions. Overall, Penn State holds an 8-5 record over the Gophers. Although Penn State has won three of the last four games, Minnesota was victorious in 2013 — the last time the two schools met.
Penn State entered this season with some high expectations after changes in the offseason. However, the new offense has had some bumps in the road and the defense has been devastated by injuries.
Minnesota has had a fantastic start to the year, averaging 44 points a game and ranking as one of the better rushing teams in the nation. The Gophers have a pair of rushers who have both gone over 180 yards for the year so far.
The Nittany Lions rank among the worst teams in stopping the run, so Saturday could be another long day.
