Penn State coach Franklin has practical reason for withholding injury information
Penn State football coach James Franklin has had a lot of injuries to talk about early this season.
There's just one problem with that (aside from the injuries themselves, of course): He doesn't talk about injuries for the most part.
While that can be a source of consternation for reporters covering the Nittany Lions and fans who want to know everything going on with their team, Franklin told listeners to his radio show the reason he handles disseminating that information (or not) the way he does.
Essentially, he knows how much he would like to have that information if he were his opponent, so he doesn't want them to have it for his team.
"If their starting corner goes out and their backup comes in, we're going to try and throw a go (route) on that guy," Franklin said. "As early as you can get that information the better, because it has a big impact on your game plan and what you're trying to do.
"Basically, I know what we value, and I try to take those things away as much as I can from those opponents."
