Cody Kirk ran for 129 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead 2-yarder in the fourth quarter, to lead Montana State to a 20-17 victory against Sacramento State on Saturday night.
Kirk's second TD came with 8:13 remaining, and the Bobcats (8-1, 5-1 Big Sky) protected the lead by forcing turnovers on the last two possessions by the Hornets (6-4, 4-3).
The victory was the 47th for Montana State coach Rob Ash, tying the school record held by Sonny Holland.
Garrett Safron threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns for Sacramento State. Morris Norisse had five receptions for 128 yards and a TD.

Denarius McGhee was 14 of 22 passing for 105 yards for the Bobcats.
