Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day: OL Zach Dykstra

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 2:51 p.m. ET

Dykstra is a consensus three star offensive line prospect who was a good signee for the Hurricanes over instate schools Iowa and Iowa State, plus Vanderbilt. He will provide good depth on the offensive line and on special teams.

The offensive line was arguably Miami’s biggest need in this recruiting class and Mark Richt and offensive line coach Stacy Searles did a great job adding talent and depth on the offensive line. Its possible in two to three years we could see all five starters from this class.

Miami signed five offensive linemen in the class of 2017. In addition to Dykstra, tackles Navaughn Donaldson and Kai-Leon Herbert, C-G Corey Gaynor and OL Zalon’tae Hillery will be or already are matriculating in Coral Gables.

Richt was quoted in the Miami Herald talking about the incoming class along the offensive line: “We thought we did great with our offensive line. There was a tremendous need to get our numbers up and bring in guys we really thought could help us be great. All… of those guys are guys that will compete for playing time this season. There’s no doubt they have the skill set to eventually become a starter and be great before this thing is over. It’s hard to be a great offensive team if you don’t provide space for your runners… and quarterback.”

Searles is also excited about working with his newest players. Dykstra’s Hurricane Sports Bio and analysis from former legendary Miami offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie.
