Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day: DE-Jonathan Garvin

Corey Gaynor has been classified as a riser in the class of 2017. JT Wilcox of CBS Local Miami referred to Gaynor as nasty and the kind of player that can lead a program into the future.

Rank – ESPN (3-Star, 85th ranked Guard, Likely to play center), 247 Sports (3-Star, 140th ranked center), Rivals (3-Star)
Analysis
Gaynor is part of an impressive offensive line in the class of 2017. The O-Line was the weakest part of the offense in 2017. Mark Richt and offensive line coach Stacy Searles have to be given a lot of credit for building a great line in this class.
Gaynor is a Center who will give the Hurricanes great depth up front. Miami loses Alex Gall in the middle of the offensive line. Gall started at Center after the Hurricanes lost Nick Linder for the season in November.
Tyler Gauthier was Gall’s main backup when Linder went down. Gaynor’s arrival should allow Richt and Searles to have Gauthier compete for the spot as the starting right guard that has been vacated by the departed Danny Isidora.
Searles commented on Gaynor’s makeup on Hurricane Sports and his bio follows:
COREY GAYNOR MY BE ONE OF THE TOUGHEST AND MEANEST OFFENSIVE LINEMEN, I’VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME. HE’S A FINISHER, HE’S VERY AGGRESSIVE AND HE’LL BE GOOD FOR OUR OFFENSIVE LINE MENTALITY.
– STACY SEARELS, OFFENSIVE LINE COACH
