Updated Mar. 4, 2020 11:23 p.m. ET

(STATS) - Mercer has added yet another FBS matchup for its young program, announcing Monday that it will open the 2018 season at Memphis.

The matchup on Sept. 1, 2018, will be the first meeting between the programs.

"We have been very proactive in adding FBS programs to our future schedules and it is exciting to open our 2018 season against a program like Memphis," coach Bobby Lamb said. "This is an outstanding opportunity to take on a talented Memphis program in the state of Tennessee, a state that we have really targeted in our recruiting efforts."

Mercer will travel to Georgia Tech this upcoming season on Sept. 10. In future years, the Bears will take on Alabama and Auburn in 2017, visit Vanderbilt in 2020 and return to Alabama for another matchup in 2021.
