Mack Brown earns due with induction into Tennessee Hall of Fame

Former longtime Longhorns coaches Mack Brown and Rick Barnes had a reunion of sorts Saturday night at UT. The other UT. Tennessee.
Barnes, of course, is taking over the Volunteers' basketball program following his firing last season after 17 seasons at Texas. Brown, who guided the Longhorns' football program for 16 seasons before being ousted following the 2013 season, was in his home state to be inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.

Brown grew up in Cookeville, Tenn., and was awarded a lifetime achievement award for his work in college football, which also included head coaching stops at Tulane and North Carolina. Brown was one of 11 new members inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
"Grandmother, Mother and Dad are in heaven watching with a smile on their face," Brown told WKRN-TV in Nashville.

Brown's career record is 238-117-1. At Texas, he will forever be known as the coach who revived Texas football, who delivered it out of the stagnant 1990s and built it into a national powerhouse. The Longhorns won the national title in 2005 and played for another following the 2009 season.
His success in reviving the program led to numerous facility upgrades, including transforming Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium into a venue that seats more than 100,000 fans.
Brown currently works as a college football analyst for ESPN and remains involved at Texas as a special assistant to the president.
