Knipp leads Northern Colorado past Rocky Mountain 56-27

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) Jacob Knipp threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Northern Colorado beat NAIA-member Rocky Mountain College 56-27 on Saturday.

Knipp led the Bears on a 69-yard drive in the first 1:45 and completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Eric Onic. Knipp later had a 1-yard scoring plunge and then threw a 32-yard score to Stephen Miller. UNC's Darius Graham scored two touchdowns on the ground.

Northern Colorado led 42-0 at the half in its home opener.

Rocky Mountain got on the board in the third when Chase White completed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Zane Guse, finishing an 11-play, 75-yard drive.

UNC gained 272 yards on the ground - compared to 57 - and had five different rushers score a TD.

White threw for 347 yards and two scores for Rocky Mountain (1-1).

This season marks the 20th anniversary of Northern Colorado's Division II national championship team.
