DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) Robbie Kelley threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as Division II Quincy upset Drake 38-35 in a season opener for both teams on Saturday.

Kelley threw for 293 yards for the Hawks. Jaylan James ran for 178 yards and two scores. Eric Poindexter had seven receptions for 165 yards and grabbed both of Kelley's scoring passes.

Drake went up 7-0 early on a Conley Wilkins run but the Hawks replied with a Nathan Kewney 35-yard field goal with 6:33 left in the first quarter and then took advantage of a Cody Thibault interception to take the lead on a 28-yard scoring pass from Kelley to Poindexter. Kelley hit Poindexter again for a 67-yard touchdown early in the second quarter and the Hawks went on to a 28-21 halftime lead. They never trailed again.

Thibault threw for 170 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs but was intercepted twice.
