Georgia backup quarterback Faton Bauta to transfer
ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia backup quarterback Faton Bauta is transferring for his final year of eligibility.
Bauta, a junior in eligibility, is a graduate student and will be able to play immediately at another school. He graduated with a degree in sport management in May.
Bauta made one start in Georgia's 27-3 loss to Florida and completed 15 of 33 passes for 154 yards and four interceptions. He did not play in another game at quarterback. He also was the holder on special teams.
Bauta thanked former coach Mark Richt, named Friday as Miami's coach, and Georgia in a statement released by the school. Bauta said a transfer is ''the best option for me to explore a new opportunity.''
Bauta finished the regular season behind starter Greyson Lambert and Brice Ramsey on the depth chart.
