Fournette wins AutoNation FWAA Offensive Player of the Week Award
In what could be a precursor for the biggest individual award later in the year, LSU running back Leonard Fournette won the AutoNation FWAA Offensive Player of the Week Award for his efforts versus Auburn last week.
The sophomore out of New Orleans rushed for 228 yards and three touchdowns on just 19 carries. He was able to accrue a 12.0 yards-per-carry average, which broke a school record.
As a result of winning the award, AutoNation will make a $1,000 donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in Fournette's name.
As AutoNation CMO Marc Cannon said, "We want to celebrate the very best of college football, while also helping to raise awareness for the importance of finding a cure for cancer. This season-long partnership with the FWAA, leading up to the AutoNation Cure Bowl, puts a spotlight on a cause that we're determined to tackle."
