COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) Former South Carolina starting quarterback Connor Mitch will leave the Gamecocks after he graduates this summer.

Gamecocks coach Will Muschamp says he spoke with on Friday about his decision.

Mitch won the starting job on coach Steve Spurrier's team last summer. He led the Gamecocks to a 17-13 victory over North Carolina in the opener, but hurt his shoulder and hip the next week in a loss to Kentucky and did not play again. He finished with 165 yards passing and a touchdown, completing 13 of 29 throws.

Mitch was behind senior Perry Orth and freshman Brandon McIlwain on South Carolina's depth chart coming out of spring.
